Why will UV Adhesives benefit you?
Light-based curing can be defined as the process in which ultraviolet (UV) or infrared (IR) light is used to initiate a curing process in adhesive material. Typical UV curing materials, such as epoxies or acrylics, contain photoinitiators that, when exposed to UV light create polymer chains that change the material from a liquid to a solid.
Some of the advantages light-based curing are:
- No mixing or measuring required - UV Adhesives are single component products
- Cure-on-Demand ability - Sufficient light of the correct wavelength range must be received in order to begin the adhesive reaction
- Environmentally friendly - Eliminate use of solvents

Why Omnicure® UV Sources will benefit you
Precision, control and repeatability
- Iris adjustment to select the optimum irradiance level
- Closed-Loop Feedback automatically maintains set output for every exposure
- Radiometer control for traceability
EXFO also offers patented Stepcure™ software that provides even greater material control. The multi-phase cures, that are available only with the EXFO OmniCure® Series 2000, allows for the optimization of a cure profile for each application. In a Stepcure™, the total energy required to cure a specific adhesive can be delivered through multiple steps on a pre-programmed register to provide the following benefits:
- Faster, stronger cures
- Minimized adhesive shrinkage
- Decreased moisture absorption
- Increased humidity resistance
- Control of outgassing
- Optimizing glass transition temperature (Tg)
Reduces defects and rework, increases yield
Reduces costs
- 2000 hours or more of lamp life reduces cost of operation
